One of the books that has had a big impact on my thinking is about
generational attitude shifts,
called 'The Fourth Turning' http://www.fourthturning.com/ . You might like
to take a look at it, as
it is relevant to your point. Also Kuhn, of course, argues that what
ultimately causes one paradigm
to change to another is that the advocates of one paradigm simply die out
and aren't replaced. I
think that is some testimony to the Quality inherent in a particular idea,
but it lessens the
rational emphasis somewhat.

PS I'm very interested in the book you're writing. Hope it gets finished
soon.
Hi Sam,
I hope he is right, but do not yet write off the GenX. If I were judged
before the time I reached 35, I doubt anyone would have offered any hope for me.
:o)
Do you have index funds in the UK? I think they may be called "Investment
Trusts."
I think there are tax consequences to investing in US funds, but if you have
something to the nature of the index funds in the UK, I could write
something short and to the point I'm sure you could understand in a private email
attachment.
Send me a private email with a link as to what you have, and I'll be more
than happy to help you out. The book is proving to be more a task than I
thought, as I didn't realize how little the average American new about simple
finance.
Thanks for the link to the book. It was interesting, and heart-calming.
