Steve: So do we all agree then that "Using government
jackboots to impose [a] view on others is [a] problem"?
DMB says:
It strikes me as a red herring. Changing a person's views at the point of a
gun is not possible and if there is a case of anyone ever attempting such a
thing in this country, I like to know about it. Generally speaking, the guys
with guns, cops and soldiers, are supposed to enforce the law and in the
case of a Democracy such as ours, these laws are written by the people's
representatives. The justice system is supposed to be in charge of
protecting our rights. This is a good thing as long as the laws are
legitimate. I have no problem with the use of law enforcement officers to go
after criminals. Ugly as it may seem sometimes, the use of force is
necessary and without it we'd all be forced to crawl back into the caves and
live by the "might makes right" credo. See what I mean?
