Hi Rich, Paul, MSH, DMB, All:

On the question of how come intellectual level mathematics can describe
and predict physical level phenomena, my answer was that nature was
created by a cosmic intelligence. Therefore, it's not surprising that
human intelligence would find traces of that intelligence at the physical
    level.

From what I understood, here's how others answered the question,
    summarized in brief.

From MSH: Nature and math are related because our minds are an inseparable
part of the phenomena we describe.

From Rich: Nature and math are related because both were created by
    intellect.

From Paul: Nature and math are related because both were created by the
    sense of Quality.

From DMB: Nature and math are related because in mystic reality all
patterns emerge at the same moment.

I don't see where any of these answers, including mine, explain how math,
an imaginary but strictly controlled and limited method of pattern making,
fits so neatly with the patterns of nature which arose out of chaos. It
almost seems necessary to conclude as Penrose does that the mathematics
exists in an out-of-this world Platonic realm whose content we poor
mortals only know by the shadows on the wall. But, I could be wrong.

So for me the question remains open, although I think Paul's answer
reflects the MOQ best. If my brief summaries distort what MSH, Rich, Paul
or DMB said, I look forward to being corrected.

    Platt
