Intellect, Consciousness, and Quality are all names for the same (non-)thing.
All SQ is semiotic, that is, communication and expression.
Time and space are not fundamental, but are produced by consciousness.
Form is formlessness, formlessness is form (or SQ is DQ, DQ is SQ). This cannot be stated "clearly", however, as it is a case of contradictory identity.
The self is a locus of DQ/SQ interaction.
Marsha asked:
I think I'm beginning to understand that you are looking at this from the point of view of the self. When interacting with Dynamic quality and Static quality, a self may be affected in a number of ways. A person (self) may be conscious (use senses), they may think (use intellect), they may act (use will). Your theory's point-of-view is the human experience?. 'What happens to me when I experience DQ and SQ?'
Am I kinda getting it, or way off base?
Scott:
When I said that the self is a locus of DQ/SQ interaction, I am saying that what "makes the world go 'round", namely the contradictory identity of form and formlessness (SQ and DQ), can be found, in microcosm, in our self. Our thinking, feeling, willing, and sensing all "work" through contradictory identity. So to your last question ("'What happens to me when I experience DQ and SQ?"), I would answer that that is not the right question to ask. Rather, what happens when DQ and SQ interact is that there is an I that experiences and values things. But I do not assume that this is the only way that DQ and SQ interacts, that is, the subject/object form is just one possibility, though it dominates our experience at this stage of our evolution. (Also, 'DQ' and 'SQ' are not always the best terms for expressing contradictory identity. 'Continuity' and 'change' are a pair that I prefer for thinking about consciousness.)
