No.

I thought this too for while. Platt's continual lambasting "rock" for it (1)
overty sexual lyrics, (2) promotion of promiscuity, and (3) "beat of sexual
intercourse", certainly seem to indicate that Platt's true problem is with sex
repression. He does obsess over it, doesn't he?
But what's critical to see are the convenient "exemptions" Platt makes. Thus,
sexual lyrics or promoting promiscuity are "okay" if "the singer can sing" or
the lyrics aren't "overtly" sexual. Or the "beat of sexual intercourse" is
non-degenerate if the music is "artistically superior", which is everything
excluding "rock" (to date, Platt has not answered whether his "degeneracy"
applies to Bluegrass, Jazz, Salsa, Country-Western, Polka, etc).
Platt has yet to come right out and reveal his true upper-tier division.
"Artistically superior" is a step in that direction. But just ask yourself,
what do all the music Platt exempts from his charge of degeneracy have in
common? What do all the music Platt condemns as degenerate have in common?
Here's a clue: Bloom was a supporter of the "Great Books" program. What do all
the books on that list have in common?
