    Steve Marquis said:
His preference was dropping in on the weekends w/o calling etc, but in the
middle of a kitchen remodel this is a time I wanted for projects. So, right
now I value weekends free of social obligation highly and he values
socializing highly. And we could look at the reasons.

If I may butt in here... It seems to me that your so-called friend is just
plain rude and a little bit neurotic. A real friend would know better than
to interupt a project. Why should he expect you to drop what you're doing?
Maybe once or twice if he had a much, much more attractive offer in mind,
but what guy doesn't understand the need for head space and such?

Would you believe that I lost a friend over George's war? If you are
familiar with Chris Hitchens'departure from THE NATION, then you know
exactly how it went down. In this case I was THE NATION and he was Hitchens.
It almost came to blows, which would have been very unfortunate for me
because he's a very large man. I'm real sad about it.
