Hi Tim
Well, you see, Robert Pirsig added his notes some four years after and not
during the old Lila Squad discussions. So he didn't give the contributors
any assistance at all. They deserve all the credit. And as for the truth,
what is the truth? In LILA, Robert Pirsig quotes William James:
"'TRUTH IS A SPECIES OF THE GOOD.' That was right on. That's exactly what
was meant by the Metaphysics of Quality. Truth is a static intellectual
pattern WITHIN a larger entity called Quality." (Page 416, Bantam paperback,
italics in caps)
One might say that Quality isn't the truth yet "it" contains the truth. And
Dynamic Quality is what's better.

Yes, but remember, Mr. Pirsig's two books are fiction as well.

Well, maybe. Some folks seem more serious than I care to be. I just do this
and stuff like Lila's Child for fun more than anything else. I don't care if
anyone consumes what I write or not. I do it for it seems to have more
Quality than not doing it, that's all.

Every day the people I work with talk about what they watched on tv last
night. They talk about shows like CSI and Survivor, shows I've never seen
(since I don't have a tv). I feel a bit left out but not enough to cause me
to go out and buy a television set, believe me. I've always wanted to be
normal but it costs too much I guess (normal, that is, not a tv).

You're welcome.

I suppose that's why I keep hanging around moq.org -- for the opportunity to
discuss Robert Pirsig's work with others of like mind. And every so often
discussions arise concerning a MOQ convention of some sort although that's
all that has happened so far -- talk. Myself, I'm not much of a joiner so I
probably couldn't be persuaded to attend even if something was organized. I
tend towards solitary retreats two or three times a year, whenever I can get
away from this crazy business of mine. I like mountains and empty fields,
not people so much. But who knows? I might change my mind.
Thank you for your comments.
