Scott - had a quick look at one of my books on Buddhism for a reference to
what I'm talking about.
"In nearly all schools of Buddhism, the final goal can only be achieved by
cultivating wisdom, which directly sees things 'as they really are'." (Peter
Harvey, an Introduction to Buddhism, 1st sentence of chapter 11)
To my mind that is exactly the same as my contention that 'only the holy can
see truly' (which is a more Christian way of putting it, I guess).
I suspect that this is part of what Mark SH is pushing towards with his
notion of a 'fully realised human being' - but I'll come back to him
directly on that.
