That's not correct.
I'd like to share another story.
While drawing water from a well a man lost his balance
and fell in. The water
level was chest deep; deep enough to cushion his fall
but not too deep he
couldn't stand. But he knew he couldn't stay there.
He tried climbing out.
But couldn't. So he began hollering for help. And he
hollered. And he
hollered. He yelled all night and all the next day.
After several desparate
days, as he was just about to give up, a sudden burst
of energy filled his being
and he knew, through some divine insight he knew, that
he would be saved. Hope
was alive. It was as if he had been reborn. So he
called for help. Within
minutes a friendly soul appeared above. "Thank you,
thank you, thank you," he
cried. And at that very moment he vowed to amend his
ways and to do God's work.
This is the story about a man who throws people down
wells to save their souls.
My concern Sam is not that you're a hypocrite but that
you're missing the point.
People aren't lead to God through argumentation (e.g.,
"[...] I'm denying [...]
the _existence_ of God [...]") and brickbats (e.g.,
"The trouble comes with
people who think they know what the word God means
[...]").
