    Greetings Mati --

Yes, thank you, I received your 8/23 posting acknowledging Platt as the
author of the quote. I have also mentioned this error in my recent post to
Anthony McWatt, and have apologized for jumping to the wrong conclusion.

For the record, I incorrectly attributed this Platt quote to Mati:

    > Oh my God -- the arrogance.* Intellectual and artistic values the
    > province of universities, etc? That's the joke of the century. The junk
    > coming out of universities today from the liberal arts crowd, like
    > deconstruction and and political correctness, is Orwellian. Nor do I know
    > of any great artists who were professors. And I wonder what the "etc"
    > refers to. Notice no acknowledgment of the poor stupid slobs who work to
    > provide the money to "finance" universities.

    On 8/23 Mati said:

What is your personal reaction to Platt's statement? I take it you're not a
Republican but, as you've admitted to an association with the Wisconsin
school system, I'd be interested in how you feel about the Multicultural
Program and the changes it has imposed on the standard curriculum. For
example, is it your view that school administrators have been pressured into
making these reforms at the expense of basic education? Do you see this as
a move toward "social justice" and the elimination of "oppression" in the
school system or in society at large? Has there been a lessening of this
emphasis since 9/11? Also, how do you view the quality of education in our
institutions of higher learning, particularly in view of the preponderance
    of liberal Professors?

Doesn't it concern you that 85% of the English, philosophy and religion
professors in America's universities are self-professed liberals? What do
you suppose accounts for this ideological imbalance?

You can provide some valuable insight on these matters for this erudite,
academically-oriented group. I, for one, would like to be more informed as
to the amount of "brainwashing" going on at all levels of academia, and its
influence on journalists and philosophers in particular.

Good to have you with us, Mati. I see some solid reasoning in the comments
    you have contributed so far.

    Cordially,
    Ham
