Hi Marsha,
Yes, heart wrenching sad. Judas got it. Go figure. On the DVD there
is an interview with Tim Rice talking about why he wanted to do the
story from Judas' POV.
No one talks much about the role of the Church and "the people" (the
masses) in crucifying him. Or the fact that he never said he was
god--"It's you who say I am." The portrayal of Pilate's role
fascinates me. So much of the birth of the religion was simple
politics.
