Given the above definition... what does that make Rush Limbaugh during the
    Clinton years? A traitor!

    [Platt]
I don't recall Limbaugh leading protests or giving aid and comfort to the
enemy when Clinton sent American troops to Haiti and Kosovo, or when he
bombed Iraq. To understand the meaning of traitor in time of war you might
want to look up "Quisling" in Wikipedia.

    [Arlo]
Ah, but now you're changing your defintion. Before it was just supporting the
authority of the United States. But here you tread into interesting territory.
"Leading protests" against actions you government undertakes, that YOU find
IMMORAL, is a being a traitor? And I do recall Limbaugh challenging the
decision to send American troops to Kosovo. There is a difference between
vocalizing dissent on a national radio program, and walking in the street with
    signs? Which is what, exactly?

    [Arlo previously]
You see. That's how it works, isn't it? That's all part and parcel of the
Big Dichotomy. Republican and Patriot are synonyms. Democrat and Patriot
    are antonyms.

    [Platt]
Ah yes, the huge right-wing conspiracy. Everybody's in on it. How paranoid
    can you get?

    [Arlo]
Well... then prove me wrong. Show me, in your thinking, where dissent vocalized
by your Republicrat compatriots is every seen as "traitorous", or show me where
dissent vocalized by Democrats against Republican actions are ever seen as
    "patriotic dissent". Hmmm?

To be fair, I run the same criticism in reverse. The Big Dichotomy also forces
those who, adhering to the dichotomy, on the otherside try to paint "Democrat =
Patriot" and "Republican = Traitor". This is emblematic of the Big Dichotomy,
and just what prevents much need critical application against "power", and not
this one-sided, foolish partition between one party who's dissent is Patriotic,
and another whose dissent is Treason.
