Yes lots of people think of evolution in terms of struggle but
is this adequate? I think more in terms of the vast sea
of the possible, or variety as Darwin calls it in relation
to evolution, the miracle of evolution is that from the vast
possibilities that exist something of value is created,
quality is chosen over dead ends, levels are created
and transcended, the molecule that can transport oxygen
is selected over that which cannot, millions of cells are able
to work together to produce the higher level reality of
the multi-cellular organism. To flux and disorder, DQ
brings order. Selection via struggle is possible only after
that which is good is already present to choose between.
