For me the notion of value-quality describes what we mean by consciousness:
we notice that patterns present themselves to us as being somewhere on the
value scale good to bad.
And DQ implies that any moment is open
to a spread of possibilities, some never yet experienced, some moving from
the possibilities relating to just a single individual in their imagination
and becoming public patterns for all to experience, eg art.
Quantification does not need a foot in the door, it is highly evolved in the
SOM form which MOQ recognises as having value. You seem to want to limit
your understanding to that provided by the concepts of science.
[Case]
Indeed I would love to see quantification stick a whole leg through the
door. I would not wish to place any limit whatsoever on understanding but I
think discussion should be limited to what can be discussed. I think science
provides the most effective tools yet devised for doing this.
