Hi Johnny, (and DMB)
All I was wanting to do with this was define level 3 patterns of value as 'ethics', ie customs. I
wasn't wanting to say that all of our systematisations of value decisions are level 3. So I would
agree that the philosophical sub-discipline of 'ethics' is level 4; my language was more
sociological (and perhaps imprecise, for which I apologise).
As for the Giant, the Giant is the Matrix, surely?

"Phaedrus is fascinated too by the description of the motive of 'duty toward self' which is an
almost exact translation of the Sanskrit word 'dharma', sometimes described as the 'one' of the
Hindus. Can the 'dharma' of the Hindus and the 'virtue' of the Ancient Greeks be identical?" - The
Eudaimonic MoQ says yes. "Lightning hits!"
