    Hi Steve,

Unfortunately at this present time I don't have the chance to compose a decent reply (might change
by the weekend - I'm moving house) but you said:

    > person rather than a type of pattern of value. Do you have any thoughts?

Have you looked at the table associated with my eudaimonic essay (available on the website). I am
sympathetic to what you have been trying to argue re patterns/people. My take is that you need to
distinguish between the levels of value and the patterns which instantiate those values, ie what I
call the 'choosing unit', that which can respond to Quality (Wim didn't like my word
'instantiate'!). So I would say Eudaimonia refers to the level of value and autonomous individual
refers to the type of person that can operate at level 4.

More later - fascinating reading this thread - and I have a long (possibly essay length)
contribution to make on the whole language/social/intellectual thing.

Some of the other threads at the moment seem deeply strange.

    Cheers
    Sam
