Hi Jonathan, all,
After more or less one year of silence, here I'm back, just for a while.... I'm soooo glad to see there are still many of the old friends ... and a lot of new.
Just my two cents after Jon's message....

I think that the MOQ, as any other intellectual theory, must start from some principle (sounds like Godel, maybe?). The starting point of the MOQ is the "Which comes first" question, that implies few necessary starting principles: time and evolution, for example. If you want, we can well call these principles: The MOQ "Platypuses" (or "Platypii" ?). IMO the Big Platypus is : Who says that the "Which comes first" method is the best one for a metaphysics? The answer is -as always in the MOQ- a posteriori: if it works is good, as long as you don't find a better way.
Back to time and evolution, when I suggested that time is an intellectual pattern, I was corrected by Magnus (and then I agreed with him) that it is a simple inorganic pattern. I guess we can say the same for evolution. It is an inorganic pattern of value, as, according to the MOQ, it comes out since the beginning: after all, it is the way reality aka nature aka universe aka quality exists: continously creating better and better patterns.
Then, we must remember that the MOQ itself is a theory, just like the "Theory of Evolution"; and that it is intellectually true only if it satisfies the "Truth Test": it must be simple, elegant, in accordance with experience.... I think that the statement "The pattern of evolution is an inorganic pattern of values" is simple, elegant and in accordance with my experience. So it is true... for the moment.
Ciao,
Marco
