No difference between awareness and thinking? It's been demonstrated
without question that many living organisms are "aware" of the
surroundings, but only humans can engage in sophisticated "reasoning"
which is the hallmark of intellect and "thinking." A lion is obviously
aware of me if he sees me, but cannot calculate the odds of my having a
gun in deciding whether to attack or run away. As for equating the
"mystery of thinking" with the mystery of Quality, I would suggest
neither one are mysteries since we intimately familiar with both. If
you mean they are mysteries in the sense that scientific SOM cannot
find causes for how they occur, I agree. But, that in itself doesn't
    mean they are synonymous.

Pirsig says "DQ is the source of all things." You seem to be asserting
that "Intellect is the source of all things." If so, how does morality
fit in? As you are aware;-) intellectual Communists slaughtered
    millions.
