    Hi Sam
These names do not ring a bell, although I have heard of the Blond book.
I certainly see my two main interests being the link between
    politics/religion and
self-realisation, or religion as the new socialism -which seems to be a hot
avenue at the moment and also
the idea of post-secular philosophy and equally a post-modern religion, I
feel after 20 years of philosophy
that everything I know pushes me in the direction of a sacred relationship
to what we might call Being/Quality/Transcendence/
Freedom -I started thinking about this after I read Charles Taylor's sources
of the self, and accepted his argument about the
impluasible and self-undermining nature of the secular project. I think the
future lies with a political-social-religion that is
as different a form of religion as you would expect there to be
post-enlightenment. I think the frontiers of science
throw up all the questions that the MOQ considers, & also Heidegger, so that
the conclusion of SOM encounters a
very different sort of cosmos to the one it set out to discover. My novel is
about these questions, it is a very similar
anti-SOM journey to Pirsig's (which I only read this year) & is derived from
my study of the history of science
and the human sciences and this brought me into contact with Heidegger. As
    my anti-SOM inclinations are closer
to Heidegger than Pirsig I am very interested in the religious implications
(AS WELL AS SOCIAL/POLITICAL/INDIVIDUAL) of the sort of metaphysics or
post-metaphysics that MOQ is an example of.
By the way, anyone read Atomised by M.Houllebeq as a sort of parody of SOM?

    Regards
    David Morey
