Hi David,
I don't think there is a center for Pirsig. Definately not one equivalent to the Steinbeck center. Some here might think Pirsig is worthy of one. He has written two noteworthy novels, but his impact on American culture is miniscule in comparison to Steinbeck. I am not sure a center really does anything for an author's posterity anyway. My geuss would be that the Steinbeck center was the idea of some local beaurocrats who wanted to provide jobs and stimulate the local economy. Most likely the center losses money every year and is a net loss for the local and state tax-payers. A Pirsig center would not fare any better, so don't go getting any ideas.
