I would only note that in 1776, the year the DOI was signed, the words
"capitalism" and "socialism" had yet to be in wide use (if at all). It's also worth
noting that socialist countries don't get nearly as many immigrants as the
U.S. The statue of Liberty is a very profound symbol in the minds of people
across the globe. Quite often immigrants value the U.S. more than people who were
born here do (that says something quite powerful). I liken it to people
confined to wheelchairs who appreciate the value of legs more than the people who can
walk.
