Everyone,
Lately I've been wanting know what everybody means by certain philosophical concepts. This desire (and the recent reappearance of these two concepts) has prompted me to ask everyone for answers to these twin questions.
What is objectivity?
What is harmony?
I'm looking for everyone's opinion here. What do these two words mean for you.
In the first case, Platt has answered recently, "I mean 'objective' according to the dictionary definition: 'Expressing or dealing with facts or conditions as perceived without distortion by personal feelings, prejudices, or interpretations.'"
In the second case, Mark has answered recently, "We sense harmony, and the better the harmony, the sweeter and more unified experience - the closer to DQ without destruction."
For objectivity, what does objectivity mean for a Pirsigian, i.e. what does it mean to be objective, what are the requirements?
For harmony, what does it mean for a Pirsigian to "sense harmony," i.e. what are we harmonizing with and what exactly does it mean to harmonize with it?
Matt
