Contemporary notions concerning the body recognised a static defensive aspect
and an 'open' aspect susceptible to evil. I wonder if the static aspect here
may be aligned with static biological, (illness, deformity, etc.) social,
(perceived status in society, wealth, friendship, etc.) and intellectual (In this
case conformity to the dominating religious paradigm)? patterns, while the
open aspect may be aligned with Dynamic forces intervening to disrupt the status
    quo?

Mark 27-02-05: Apologies. This is a mistake. This paragraph should have read:

Static aspects may be defending and reinforcing the dominating world view,
while the Dynamic aspect is the evil of change or challenges to the world view?

To add: The renaissance period was a challenging time for great artists and
thinkers; any calamity may have been viewed as payback for man's Dynamic
forging of his own measure of things - a challenging of the giant (Theistic world
view) as presented here by the head of Goliath?
I see this as an intellectual/social struggle.

    All the best,
    Mark
