One thing I would point out about gay marriage...no one, at least in the
United States, has the "right" to get married. It's not listed in the Constitution
at all, unlike free speech and stuff. No one, gay or otherwise, has the
"right" to join the military. Some of the gay marriage advocates, not all but some,
would in effect like to turn the entire institution of marriage into a civic
entitlement, which it is not. I have brought this up in conversation and have
been told by a few that they think marriage *should* be a civic entitlement.
So some of these advocates want to impose a radical change upon the entire
institution of marriage, not just how it is defined, but how it is related to
social structure.
