Hi Platt, DavidM, et al,
Well, it scares the pooh outta me, but I think Platt's statement
below is right on.
David, can you expand on your idea of DQ being more or less complex?

I fail to grasp your assertion because I can find no support for it
in Pirsig's writings. In fact, the story of the Zuni and brujo
contradicts what you say. DQ can emerge from a human response to it
by anyone, anywhere, at anytime. It's one's openness to DQ that
determines its emergence and influence. As Pirsig points out time and
again, SOM intellect blocks access to DQ. In that metaphysics, DQ,
the moral force, doesn't exist and so goes unrecognized. SOM
dominates the current intellectual level. So for an intellectual to
respond to DQ at that "higher level" is less rather than more likely.
Mystics and artists are much better candidates for responding to DQ
than "higher intellects." Finally, how does DQ become "more complex?"
Can you give examples of simple DQ vs. complex DQ?
