    Dear Platt,

    >I'd rather respond to DQ by pursuing Beauty. But maybe your way of
    >responding is talking about philosophy and such.

OK, that's fine, you're right that there are probably many ways of seeing or
responding to DQ, and thinking about what is actually going on when that
happens. I feel some are not very penetrating, operating on feelings
without examining their cause. But maybe you feel attempting to penetrate
into the feeling destroys it as feeling, and you might be right.

My post to you was snippy because I interpreted your first post in this
thread, addressed to "All", and indicating that "some people" will never
understand the MoQ because they haven't experienced real beauty, as a
warning to new members not to listen to this johnny moral person, and was
rather insulting, not to mention depressing. But if that's your feeling
then let's go ahead and share it with the list, I guess. Hey all, I've
never experienced DQ and will never fully understand.

I'm sure an intimate experience of DQ as you speak of would have an impact
on me and my understanding of The MoQ, but there is still lots of room for
scientific interpretation about what exactly went on in having that
experience. I would still say it was a convergence of existing patterns and
signs that I interpret in a certain language and feel emotions that would be
reasonable and expected for me to feel.

I was hoping you would address the topic of static patterns changing without
the influence of DQ, which was what prompted me to reenter this discussion.
I sensed a newly receptive climate for bringing up my ideas about it all
being existing static patterns. (I should just say existng patterns, since
we now all agree that the term "static" is misleading, a pattern is only
static enough to be a pattern, but not totally static, it changes but
retains the name and identity as the same pattern that was before, just with
    a different pattern to itself.)

    >As for the horse and your
    >being knocked off of it, the allusion escapes me.

Saul, on the road to Damascus to persecute Christians, was knocked of his
white horse by a blinding light, and Jesus spoke to him "why do you
persecute me?" and he was converted, changed his name to Paul, waxed his
chest, and came out to his parents and friends. "We always knew", they
    said.

    Johnny
