    Yes, you are correct. I hope this is not nitpickery, but even certainly
    described as a result of a SO duality, it seems to me still that (in ZMM) the
    deathforce has become most pronounced (if you will) since mass production. That
    is, even though the SO duality ruled the west since Aristotle, the schism
    Pirsig wrote of seemed to be centered in the post-Fordist era. So even though
    Pirsig's alienation was the result of Aristotle's ghost echoing through the
    generations (to use some poeticism), I find his analysis indicating the 50's
    (i.e. a recent era of mass production) were a time when this alientation became
    critical. Thus, he is able to lament the simple change in attitude among
    mechanics over one (possible) two recent generations, that seems to be a direct
    result of alientating the activity from the product of labor.
