Firstly, Love and Hate in real terms are NOT opposites.

Assuming this love is the boundless oceanic state of
connectedness and not romance, fondness, or lust.

Love is Pure Dynamic Quality affirming the dance of
consciousness within and between existence and
awareness. When the mind, with all its models and
imperatives falls quiet and the day is just perfect. ( A
part of that set of indicators that you are not still riding
the ill-behaved bucking mind.) Then the tree outside
the door is perfect and reflects an echo of shared
warmth in being and a pleasant peace.

When the mind rules, then the tree is lopsided and not
    symmetrical. Same tree, different mind.

Hatred is a very willful choice, a negation of the worth,
the dynamic quality, of an object of our awareness. No
possibility of respect is left in consideration of the hated
and we artificially assign lower quality to the relationship
and expend great energy trying to support that false state.

Take the energy out of hatred and it collapses to
indifference, even to the point of unawareness.

    On the other hand,
to truly hate cats, computers, or plumbing
one must have intimate familiarity with them.

    thanks--mel
