If the EPA catches you Dumping tetra-ethyl-death
at your boss' instructions YOU go to jail, he might
as well, but you dump...you go. Unless you negotiate
    state's evidence deal.

...Good bottom line in a business that exists for that reason...

Boss says what, usually YOU say how. (obviously in a McD's
there is a pretty tight process, but even there you can step back if you
need to sneeze or you can choose to BLAST the burger.)

Martha and her stock-punk boy get to be prison bitches...

Thanks for the coffee I am awake. But...
Even in corporate America, land of the greed, you are still
accountable for your actions and morally responsible. As
    am I for mine.

Command structure is a common form of organization
for concerted effort. It is often highly modified, but it
is highly effective. Democracy is less desireable in a
concerted focus situation; it is better suited for other
    purposes.
e.g. In surgery, I don't want the nurses voting
on what to cut or how much anaesthesia to use. Each
should contribute their feedback as appropriate to a team
    effort.

However, as not to get off track, the organization is irrelevant
to the duty for morality and assignment of responsibility for
our individual actions as I see it and as the world usually works
    in practice.

    Thanks--mel
