CONCLUSION:
1. dmb states clearly he diverts from his original intention, "to find out
the context of one particular passage, the one where Pirsig says the MOQ is
anti-theistic..." and so anyone doing the same should be given a degree of
latitude.
2. dmb's assertion that, "Another problem would be his (Mark Maxwell)
constant hijacking of threads to discuss this pet idea, which has absolutely nothing
to do with anti-theism" does not hold up to close enquiry.
3. A close enquiry reveals that coherence has a good deal to do with a thread
called, anti-theism' especially so considering the large number of references
to Zen and Zen's close connection with the MOQ. (Eugen Herrigel was taught by
a Zen master for example, and his terminology is precisely that which the
philosophical term 'coherence' attempts to describe. Robert Pirsig's first book
is called, Zen and the art of Motorcycle maintenance and is a title borrowed
from Eugen Herrigel's Zen in the art of archery.)
4. One misleading assertion is unfortunate, but three is beginning to look
like a habit. (The other two may be easily drawn attention to.) Liar may be more
appropriate.
5. dmb appears to be deliberately attempting to mislead. However, it may be
fairly suggested that he is in fact merely misleading himself.
All the best,
Mark
