Rick asked:
> So where is Phaedrus in all this:
As the refrain from the old song starts..
" it's only words, and words are all I have.." to steal the pain away.
And words are all Phaedrus, or any philosopher, has. And he used them in
the best way he knew how to try and warn us many years ago the dangers
of not having a universal meta/ethical/physical foundation to reality
that is based on morals. Few listened. fewer still understand.
Our myths suggests that the unreal events on the morning of September
11th are a continuation of an ongoing "war of values" that started as a
tribal dispute in a desert valley over 2000 years ago. And like most
myths this one, in part, is true. But this "war of values" is much,
much older than that, probably older than mankind. It probably emerged
as a 'good' value in the prides and the packs of the savannas before
humans did. In some specific, limited, circumstances these biological
values are still 'good' but as we evolved social and intellectual values
should have emerged to dominant and control these patterns to extremely
limited circumstances. But as is evident they have not. And until some
moral system of social and intellectual values (the MoQ or something
better) becomes univerally dominant and is in control, not by physical
force, but by the force of each individual will, events like these,
unfortunately for all of us will continue. As will the retributions. And
their retributions, etcetera, etcertera.
