In trying to think of a definition of information I remembered this article

 had read that reported two types of knowledge -map-like and story-like. So
I
 think information is like quality but it seems most people think of the
 map-like kind and forget about the story-like type. I guess some people
may
 debate whether you have to distinguish these two but it makes you wonder
 whether Pirsig could have explained MOQ without a story. I have read his
 articles but I don't think they don't capture MOQ the same way.

That's interesting. I guess they roughly correspond to Shannon's definition
and Zeilinger's in that the latter is dependent on chronology and the former
is not.
