I think Gary Zukav is good author about topics like this.
Power, control over our environment is why people want money. I know what you
mean in that a piece of paper doesn't give you any power if nobody accepts the
value of piece of paper. Maybe you could say the paper has social but not
intellectual power not sure. Without a massive revolution that you describe,
money does give people some power, control over their environment so it is not
amyth in that way.
But I like Zukav because he distinguishes between authentic and inauthentic
power. The control or power money gives is inauthentic.
