Another adage apropos of your post: 'Those who can't do, teach.'
Matt:
When I was a bitter student, I used to love that little mantra. Most
bitter students do. But now I don't find much worth in cynical remarks
like that about our educators. Education is the future of humanity. It
determines what direction humanity travels. The cynicism captured by
quaint phrases like, "Those who can't do, teach," is what makes for bitter
teachers. Bitter teachers are bad teachers and that makes for bad students
and very little learning.
Opposite your cliche about teaching, I would offer this one:
The best way to learn is to teach.
