    Erin

I have found that people who start a sentence with:

"Not trying to be difficult but"

Or the other popular one is:

"I don't want to offend you but"

mean to do exactly what they are stating they don't want to do.

I have trained myself over the last few years not to start any sentence
where I make a statement that has a but in it. If I am going to be
difficult, or want to offend I just come straight out and do it.

Accessibility to people who have an interest in Pirsig but have no formal
philosophical training, and can't get a foot in to the depth of conversation
    that exists on this site.

you've got me on the net gain, it's probably my poor use of language, I will
put some thought into it and see what I can come up with.

    John
