Dear Platt & Matt,
Back after holidays and after catching up reading what y'all wrote in the
meantime...
Platt wrote 10 Jan 2003 10:05:07 -0500:
'the challenge is to find such a person [viewing sitting on a hot stove as
high quality] in experiential reality'.
Do you think yogis meditating on a bed of nails could be found in
experiential reality? Are there still Sioux Indians around in that country
of yours that practice the sun dance, in which they drive hooks through the
flesh on their breast and pull with their whole weight at a rope attached to
these while running around a pole in the burning sun?
There must be more 'religious' practices still around where denial of the
biological self is experienced as social (intellectual?) high quality.
With friendly greetings,
Wim
