Ian, Horse:
Thanks to you both for your recommendations into the question of emergent
properties. I will try to follow up as best I can. I will also try to heed
Ian's advice about seeking a "quality" explanation. But, in the back of my
mind (try as I might to suspend disbelief) will probably always hang a
doubt as succinctly expressed by Ken Wilber, namely that the bottom line
of the scientific explanation is "Oops." One of the more interesting
aspects of the MOQ is its explanation of some emergent properties when it
cites DQ as being the "creative force." (Lila, 17). For me that
explanation, when considered in the context of the entire MOQ, ranks right
up there in "quality." I look forward to any further thoughts you have on
this subject.
Best,
Platt
