    Hi Erin,

About the movie "Bagger Vance" you wrote:

Me, too. Just because a good movie about philosophy hasn't been made yet
doesn't mean it can't be done. To reach vast numbers of people today
requires the techniques of show biz, as the evangelicals have done so
successfully. Too many intellectuals believe everything that what is
worthwhile only happens in the ivied halls of academia. If that's where
the MOQ is destined to go, that's where it will fade away. Robert Redford
is probably not the guy to popularize the MOQ in film, but I've no doubt
that somebody out there can bring it off, and will someday.

As for civility in philosophical discussion, I'm with you. There's
absolutely no justification for insulting someone for the sake of building
up one's feeble little ego which, of course, is always the underlying
cause for ill-mannered behavior. However, if you are the victim of such an
attack I think it's appropriate at times to strike back as you have done.
    Otherwise, the ego-challenged will prevail.

    Best,
    Platt
