    As usual you make a convincing case for the "essential" individual.
    There's little doubt in my mind that Pirsig also recognizes the uniqueness
    and "proprietary being" of each individual, although he must, to be true
    to Zen philosophy, say that "self" is an intellectual construct, evidence
    of his latent Idealism..

    What intrigued me was your offhand comment:

    I wonder if you'd care to name some of the "esthetic-based ontologies" you
    refer to? I would be very much interested in pursuing that line of
    inquiry.
