Hi DMB,
From 'Nietzsche and Buddhism: A Study in Nihilism and Ironic Affinities'
by Robert G. Morrison, although I need to read it again, there are two
types of nihilism: active and passive. Nietzsche thought Buddhism
represented the passive, 'nothing can or should be done' type. Nietzsche
thought his form of nihilism represented the active type, generating a
'will to power'. The author thought Nietzsche's understanding of Buddhism
was misinformed, and that both are a active nihilism. I agree with the
Morrison, both are active. Human beings are agents of action, how could it
be otherwise.
