So you were in favor of doing nothing when Saddam invaded Kuwait in
1990, then failed to live up to the UN peace agreements?.
[Khaled]
No, I was in favor of kicking him out, but was not in favor of cozying up
to him while he was gassing the Kurds and the Iranians. in fact the west
supplied him witht the technology and materials to build his WMD.

You see, Khaled, this is yet another shining example of the moral hypocrisy that
is US foreign policy (or has been it historical motivator). When evil is done
that benefits us, we turn the other cheek. When evil is done that harms us, we
raise the Moral Flag and proclaim ourselves the Holy Judge.
If we want to foster "morality", MOQ based or otherwise, a good example would be
in the application of criticism in all places. Evil is not only immoral when it
does not suit US foreign policy. If it is "evil" at all, it is "evil" period.
What galls me, and nearly everyone I know, is all the "high moral talk" about
ousting Hussein, while the President and his oil cronies are "in tight" with
the House of Saud, a regime that commits more human rights violations than
Iraq.
This is hypocrisy that absolutely demonstrates that those who cry High Morality,
really don't mean it. The same way those that cry Christian Morality, really
don't mean it. If they did, they'd apply that morality at all times, in all
places. Not just when it gives them power... or oil.
Arlo (who is doing better with his spellin', eh? ;-))
