    Hi Platt,

In case you didn't notice, you wrote this:
"Terrorism has its roots in the Middle East."

    Some questions:
    1. How would you define "terrorism" such that the IRA, Eta, the Tamil
Tigers etc would not be considered terrorists? or...
    2. Do you believe that the aforementioned groups are/were secretly
masterminded by Bin Laden or Arafat?

    Platt continued:
"When that area [the Middle East] becomes democratic, terrorism will abate."

    3. How can you possibly think this when a significant number of the
terrorists in the Middle East believe that democracy is a corrupt form
    of government?
    4. You imply that democracy is an effective antidote for terrorism.
What are the specific benefits of democracy in this regard?

    Yours with genuine curiosity,

    Mike
