Hi Platt,
Falling rocks causing painful bumps to swell up on your head is just a
pattern. The bump is real because the expectation that the pattern will
continue creates the continued pattern (probably - perhaps sometimes a rock
will fall and you won't feel it, but that is very unlikely, like a rock
falling up instead of down is very very unlikely. Pragmatically, it's best
to just say that rocks are real and they always fall down and hurt when
they hit your head).
