[Poot:]
I hope we are not forgetting the negative parts of the "drug" scene, that
"drug wars" and restrictions have helped induce. Today psychedelics are not
the "in thing to do" as Platt has correctly stated.
[snip]
The "war on drugs" in the United states, and prohibitve laws here in Canada
continue to support the criminal empires who sell these drugs.
[snip]
P.S. If people were allowed to grow their own marijuana, for example, the
need for "dealers" would cease to exist in the lives of millions of people
(in NA alone) and this would curb the drug industry drastically . (the
marijuana "industry " in Ontario, Canada alone is a multi-billion dollar
industry, and growing)
[Case]
The "war" on drugs:
Is nothing short of a direct government subsidy to the criminal class.
Turns a health problem into a law enforcement (military?) problem.
Fosters general disrespect for all Laws.
Prevents the development of a social context for drug use.
Results in the errosion of civil liberties.
Is a classic example of history repeating itself.
Furthermore, our Puritan views of all drugs leads us away from the idea that
we could be creating drugs that do more than heal us and return us to
"normal". We could be making drugs that help us think better, remember more
and live longer. This is not a secret. It has been well know for 30 years.
Sort of makes you wonder doesn't it?
