Hi Adam
Interesting. I have in my possession (supposed to have at least) a
copy of story that a Swedish journalist did upon re-treading the
route described in ZMM. In Bozeman he visited Mrs DeWeese
(she was a widow by then) and she showed him a big manuscript
bundle which was an early draft of ZMM that Pirsig had sent her
some time before its publication. If I remember correctly he was
allowed a look into it and found new things. The DeWeese's post
address appeared in his story for some reason and I wrote her to
inquire, but never received an answer. This was ten years ago.
As you know there are some new things in the "Guidebook",
particularly the return trip from the mountain climb they did in
Montana, this I found quite a thrill. The "Army Boat" too, if a bit
more sad.
