    You're either thinking of John Lennon who said "Writing about music is like
    talking about fucking" or Elvis Costello who said "Writing about music is
    like dancing about architechture." In both cases, they were talking about
    the critics. Not the general idea of discussing art.

    I always thought the "Code of Art" was the existing moral code of Dynamic
    over static rather than the suggestion of a new level. But you could be
    right.

    I don't know. To tell you truth, I've always thought that Pirsig gave the
    fine arts the shaft when he designed MoQ. The Mona Lisa has to be more than
    an inorganic pattern. It does use symbols to represent experience, so it
    seems like some sort of intellectual pattern given Pirsig's definition...
    Perhaps Pirsig's defintion has revealed that the intellectual is just far
    more sweeping and inclusive than we previously suspected...???
