Paul and all:

Hope you don't mind me butting in, social-intellectual
discussions are of real interest to me at the moment.

Not all all. Feel free.
Paul asked about Wilber's "auto-immune disease":
Can you describe this further? At first glance, it
seems to say that the process of evolution is a
disease.
dmb:
I thought it would be of interest because it closely resembles Pirsig. He
too talks about the culture's "immune system". He too talks about the clash
of levels. He talks about Karma as a kind of residue left in the wake of
evolution. Disease may be too strong a word because that implies that the
life processes are breaking down. Conflict and karma may be a bit
unpleasant, but its seems a normal part of the process. I was hoping that
the similarity between the MOQ and the posted Wilberism would be clear to
you, dear reader. If time permits, maybe I'll look for some Pirsig quotes.
Maybe someone else has one handy? Any help with that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
DMB
