    MOQers:

Pirsig in chapter 12 of 'Lila':
'In the Metaphysics of Quality this dilemma doesn't come up. To the extent
that one's behavior is controlled by static patterns of quality it is
without choice. But to the extent that one follows Dynamic Quality, which is
    undefinable, one's behavior is free.'

    dmb says:
If the question is about Pirsig's view of free will, I can't imagine a
better quote. (Thanks, Wim.) "TO THE EXTENT" This seems to be the operative
phrase. There is a range, a spectrum with degrees of freedom and
determinism. The question of free will can't be answered with a simple "yes"
or "no". (Not that anybody has suggested otherwise.) In the MOQ, it seems to
me, a better question might be, "how free are you?".

Think of all the activities in your life that pretty much demand static
behaviors. Work. Family Life. Domestic chores. Traveling. Shopping.
Attending social functions and otherwise going out in public. Philosophizing
and attending to personal hygeine. There isn't much left except walking the
dog and getting some sleep. Where's the freedom? Where's the DQ?

Here's a question for you; Where and when are you most free? In what way do
    you actually exercise freedom?

    Thanks.
