All MOQers:
Who thinks the folllowing two Pirsigisms are contradictory? Who thinks only
one of them can be correct? Not me.
sq: I did not say they were contradictory. In fact, i urge they agree.
However, you are wrong to suggest the intellect has been developing for 3,000
years and not before that cut off point:
dmb:
'Here's a thought; if the social level has been evolving for 160 thousand
years and the intellect has been evolving for, oh, lets be generous and say
3 thousand years, then the third level is more than 50 times older.'
sq: The intellect has been evolving since symbols have been manipulated by
the mind, which includes culture, rhetoric and thinking about myth before
philosophy. That is more than 3,000.
