Nice pitch for NYC, but the relevance to Pirsig is ... ?
BTW Don't shoot me I'm new around here, but ...
What about
The hotel overlooking Central Park ?
The restaurants ?
The Pier ?
Other views / locations ?
I've just flown back to UK from US (not NY unfortunately) finishing my 3rd
re-read of Lila just before arrival - more annotations than original text
now ! And all the scenes on the Hudson and in Manhattan so evocative.
Especially poignant messages about the big Apple, that most Dynamic city and
the skyline including the WTC.
[Quote]
What a skyline ... Rhapsody in Blue. For the moment the towers of the WTC
seemed to have won the race ... the Giant was it's own creation.
[Unquote]
Ah but which race ?
I amost cried (again) when Richard came across to the beach to say he was
taking Lila away after that tough walk back with the shopping, planning my
life's work in my head on the way.
Shall I introduce myself ?

Hey David,
As a native and resident New Yorker, I can't resist staying up a few more
minutes on your inquiry about my home turf. If you and your wife like
museums, I'd recommend MOMA. The Hayden Planetarium does 3-D laser light
shows to classic rock-n-roll albums (Dark Side, Zeppelin) on Fridays and
Saturdays and the Guggenheim has great stuff too. If you're looking for
shows, Broadway is always there, but there are also great off-broadway
productions down in the Village (like Stomp, and Blue-Man Group) which are
definitely worth checking out. If your looking for music and don't mind
ponying up some dough, I'd say nothing beats the weekend jazz shows at
Blue-Note (although there are several smaller, lesser known jazz clubs that
are also must sees... but start with Blue Note if you've never been there).
However, I would say that nothing conveys the real Dynamic nature of New
York City quite like taking a subway up to the Bronx and seeing a game at
Yankee Stadium... even you're not really a baseball fan... it's an historic
experience and a carnival atmosphere.
congratulations on your anniversary,
have fun in NYC
rick
